FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the No Room for Trafficking campaign?
No Room for Trafficking is a national, industry-wide initiative led by Hotels Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking, that mobilizes hotels across the country to complete human trafficking awareness training and reinforce a shared commitment to prevention.
By participating, hotels join a coordinated effort to strengthen awareness and recognition across Canada’s hotel industry ahead of National Human Trafficking Awareness Day.
What happens after a hotel commits to No Room for Trafficking?
Partners can get started immediately by ensuring 100% of their teams have completed Human Trafficking Awareness Training using either their existing in-house program or one of the free programs available.
Hotels Canada will continue to share campaign updates, reminders, and promotional materials to support participation.
Do I have to sign up my individual property if my brand, management company, or ownership group is already listed as a campaign partner?
No. If your brand or hotel management company is already participating, no further action is required.
However, if you would like to receive campaign updates directly from Hotels Canada, you are encouraged to complete the sign-up form.
What if my organization already has human trafficking awareness training in place?
This campaign is designed to reinforce and amplify existing training efforts across the hotel industry.
If your organization already provides training, participating in No Room for Trafficking demonstrates your commitment as part of a broader national movement.
Does No Room for Trafficking include extra paperwork or audits?
No. This is not a certification or audit program, and there is no additional paperwork required.
No Room for Trafficking is a national awareness initiative focused on education, participation, and collective action—not compliance.
Do partners need to report their training results?
Partners are encouraged—but not required—to complete a short follow-up survey. This information helps strengthen national reporting and informs future awareness initiatives.
Who should complete the training?
Hotels Canada encourages all hotel employees to complete human trafficking awareness training, including:
- Front desk and guest services
- Housekeeping and maintenance
- Food and beverage teams
- Management and supervisory staff
- Security and operations
- General managers
The goal is full-property awareness and preparedness.
Is there a deadline to commit?
No. Hotel partners may confirm their participation at any time.
Will participating hotels be recognized?
Yes. Participating hotels will receive a certificate from Hotels Canada.
Official partners—including brands, management companies, and ownership groups—will also be recognized on the No Room for Trafficking campaign webpage and through Hotels Canada social media channels.
Hotels Canada may also highlight participation through industry communications and campaign reporting.
Who is Hotels Canada’s partner for this initiative?
Hotels Canada is proud to partner with the Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking (CCTEHT), which provides expertise, resources, and support throughout the initiative.
CCTEHT operates Canada’s national, toll-free, confidential Human Trafficking Hotline, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in more than 200 languages.
