Government Renews International Convention Attraction Fund

Statement from Hotels Canada on the International Convention and Attraction Fund renewal:

The Government of Canada’s renewal of the International Convention Attraction Fund, with $15 million over three years, is a welcome and important signal that reinforces the value of business events in Canada’s economy.

Administered by Destination Canada, the fund supports destinations in securing major international events and conferences. Since its launch, it has helped secure 116 international events, delivering nearly $803.3 million in direct economic impact nationwide – an estimated 20:1 return on federal investment.

These events do more than just fill hotel rooms – they also function as export drivers, bringing global investment and economic activity into Canadian communities.

That is why we, alongside the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, Meetings Mean Business Canada, and 41 industry partners, have consistently advocated for the continuation of this program. Continued, long‑term investment in business events is essential to attracting high‑value global events, maximizing economic returns, and ensuring communities across Canada continue to benefit.
