2026 National Day for Human Trafficking Awareness: Joint Statement from Canada’s Hotel Associations
February 19, 2026 — On National Human Trafficking Awareness Day in Canada—and throughout the year—Canada’s hotel industry is united in taking action to prevent human trafficking.
This year, the Hotel Association of Canada and provincial and city hotel associations, along with their members nationwide, have launched No Room for Trafficking, a national campaign that mobilizes hotels to strengthen human trafficking awareness and ensure all hotel staff are trained by February 22, 2026.
“Human trafficking affects every region and every community in Canada,” said Beth McMahon, HAC President and CEO. “Addressing it requires awareness, preparedness, and coordinated action, which is why we created this first of its kind industry-wide campaign.”
Hotels play an important role in identifying and responding to potential trafficking situations. Through No Room for Trafficking, Canada’s hotel associations are reinforcing a shared commitment to:
- Raising awareness across hotel operations;
- Ensuring staff are trained and equipped to recognize the signs of trafficking; and
- Supporting clear, appropriate reporting and response pathways.
By acting together, the hotel industry can have an impact greater than any single organization acting alone—strengthening public trust and contributing to safer environments for guests, employees, and communities.
